World Languages Offered at Beyer
Carmen Sanger Willkommen! I was born in a small village in Bavaria. I enjoy teaching students about the German culture, such as the “Oktoberfest”, and other traditional celebrations. I hope you can join us! “Komm mit!” and discover Germany!
Why study German?
German is the native language of about 100 million people in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, and parts of France and Italy. German is useful, easy to learn, interesting, historical, fun and beneficial. Many employers consider knowledge of German as an asset. Learning German is easier than you think. German and English are related languages. You will recognize many German words, such as Kindergarten, Auto, Hamburger, Jeans, and many others. Beyer students have the opportunity to study German for four years. Students learn the German language and discover the culture, such as the “Oktoberfest” and other traditional festivities. Students are actively involved in role plays, researching historical events, playing “Bingo”, and learning songs like “99 Luftballons”, “Du hast”, and many others. You will build lifelong relationships. Above all, it is fun.

Why study Spanish?
If you speak Spanish, you can communicate with almost 500 million people worldwide. It is the second most common language in the United States and third most commonly spoken language in the world after Mandarin Chinese and English.
Studying Spanish helps you to:
- Understand culture – The Spanish-speaking world is rich in music, food, art, literature, history, and everyday traditions. Learning about culture helps you understand other people’s perspectives, patterns of behavior, and contributions to the world at large.
- Expand career opportunities – Your career options expand as businesses in the twenty-first century look for employees who can communicate in Spanish.
- Enjoy your Spanish experience – Climb the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu. Volunteer to build a school in Mexico. Enjoy a meal at a Mexican restaurant. Speaking Spanish enriches your experience whether at home or in another country.
- Improve your language skills – Studying Spanish improves your first-language skills: vocabulary, grammar, reading, and writing. Research shows your test scores may improve!
